Saying Goodbye To Summer

Back home (in Indiana) we have a parade on Memorial Day. I LOVED the Memorial Day parade. I missed it almost as much as I missed Christmas when I first moved away from home and family. I always feel homesick for my childhood on Memorial Day- things just aren't the same without that parade.
Here, (in Colorado) we have a Labor Day parade. I had more fun at the parade today than I have in such a long time. I think it has something to do with watching the excitement of my girls as they gathered candy, danced to music, waved at people on the floats, shook hands with clowns, and high-fived a passing motorist (in a tiny truck). It was TB's first parade. He slept until the floats starting blowing their horns. Then he watched, but was only mildly amused.
 Sleeping through his first parade.
The girls wore their pjs to the parade.
They had declared today a pajama day.
Awake now and watching the parade.

Between the parade and the cooler weather today just feels like a finale to me. An end to this summer, my last summer here in Colorado (for now anyways- I am sure we will be back eventually). I feel so sad about it too. It's been such a great summer and I don't want it to end. I am VERY much looking forward to this fall and all the excitement in store for us, but I'm not quite ready to say goodbye to this summer. I guess it's a good thing it doesn't officially end for another couple weeks. Guess I better make the most of it!

  1. Parades are so much fun. I didn't realize you had a blog! It's so fun to see pictures and stories of your family. Hope all is well!
