More Adventure

A continuation of our adventures at the Children's museum in Denver.

Dressing up to dance for an audience is always fun. It's even more fun when a wall-sized mirror allows you to be your own audience.
ARTS a la carte- has an art and craft room, a dance area and a puppet theater. We let the girls go freely from one area to the next and we were able to keep an eye on them.

Alphabet Soup- Also nearby was a huge magnetic board with shapes, pictures, letters, and words. We put together sentences and then let DTE read them to us.

Bubbles- The next room was great! Bubbles EVERYWHERE. One you could stand in, a table to blow steam into bubbles. Long bubbles, tall bubbles. Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles. (I fed Johnathon in this room but decided to move after realizing that I was in the background of what would be great pictures)

Click Clack Train Track-
DTE did not want to wear a conductor's hat. DTY loved it. They humored me for a picture. I tried one on Johnny but he was not happy. We gave him a wipe (because we forgot to bring him any toys) and that calmed him down.

The girls final adventure in the museum was playing with the trains and track in this area. DTE's favorite thing was to remove a piece of track and have the train go crashing to the ground. DTY loved the toy wooden people and matched them up.

We had plans- so we left without visiting any of the other exhibits. We made one last stop outside to meet Hopscotch- the chalkboard cow. We had a great time and plan on visiting again.

Discovery and Adventure

Now that Daddy is home (and before we move) I have decided we are going to do as many things as possible in the CO area and create as many fun memories for our kids as we can. One of the top things to do on my list was this museum. http://www.mychildsmuseum.org/Default.aspx
A run down of our fun-filled trip to Denver Children's Museum.
When we first entered the museum we were excited to learn that they had a military discount :) Our first stop (of course) was the bathrooms. (Not exciting I know, except I was thrilled at how family friendly their restrooms are. From kid sized toilets and sinks, to seats for babies in each adult stall, and toilets that were NOT automatic. I truly loved these bathrooms! This is coming from a mom who undoubtedly will visit the restroom with her kids at least once on every single outing. Why is it that kids seem to be so fascinated with using public restrooms?)
Then on to the fun stuff...
3, 2, 1... Blast Off!- a room dedicated to rockets and parachutes. You could build your own rocket or parachute and test how it worked at several stations. You also could shoot rockets at "planets". My favorite part of this exhibit was the teenaged volunteers. They were incredibly friendly and helpful, and totally took over guiding my girls in making a rocket while I nursed the boy.

Next stop, The Center for the Young Child- This are is designed for preschool aged children; a soft, quiet, relaxing play area for parents to play with their young kids. DTE was excited to wear the big kid vest and TB loved the baby pond. I loved having a quiet time to just enjoy my baby, while TLOML watched after the girls and took pictures. The girls loved dressing up and exploring this area. (and they loved the restooms in this area also- and used them with NO help from Mommy or Daddy)

I think the kiddos could have stayed in this part of the museum the whole time, but we wanted to do as much as possible and moved on.

CMD Fire Station No. 1-
What could be more fun then playing on a real fire truck? DTY was a bit catious at first, but they loved it!

Up the elevator to Ready, Vet, Go!- a vet role-playing station. You could be a veterinarian, groomer, trainer, or receptionist. My girls gravitated towards being the "animal doctor". (This one wasn't so much fun for me, but the girls liked it.)

That is still only about half of our trip. I will have to tell you about the rest later. (both TLOML and TB are ready for us to head to bed.)

Pictures, Pictures, Pictures

So, I have been writing in my blog, but then not posting because I didn't have all the pictures I wanted on my laptop yet. I added them now- so I should be able to update more soon. For now, time with the hubby in our (mostly) quiet house!

Matchy Matchy

I am the type that would match my family everyday. If only they all felt the same. Occasionally they humor me and we match. They humored me the other Sunday. The boys wore white, black and blue.

The girls wore white, black and pink.

The family looked great together!

The Fourth of July

Who needs fireworks when you can have glowsticks?

We had a blast at a friend's house this year. We ate and played all day and then went on a group date that night to see the 4th pirates movie.
Phil and I had both decided we wanted to spend some time that day playing with our cameras. He got the shot of the glowsticks above. I tried getting some good ones of the kids.

Homecoming Update

I want to first say that a majority of these wonderful pictures were taken by my dear friend, Roseanne. She did an awesome job! I am so grateful that she was there to capture such special moments for us. Thank you!

I had not planned on taking the girls to Daddy's homecoming. It was going to be late- past their bedtime, and I wasn't sure they would have a good time with all the waiting. (Also, I wanted the time with him to myself and TB). But as it grew closer and closer to ceremony time on the day he came home, I grew too excited to leave the girls behind. They knew I was going to a party that night and I asked if they wanted to come. YES!
I don't think they knew what the 'party' was about. Our daddy chain still had several links on it (partially because I refused to believe he was coming home so early- partially because I didn't want the girls to experience a crushed hope if he ended up being late) DTE asked if the party was at church. I told her it wasn't, that it was an Army party on post. DTY said, "maybe we will see my daddy at the Army party!" Still they didn't seem to know who their guest of honor at the party would be. I had to work hard not to tell them.
We arrived shortly after they first opened the doors (2 hours BEFORE the ceremony would begin). The girls played and waited. (they had a bounce house that DTE loved!) We talked some with the other people around us. The air was buzzing with excitement!
The girls sharing a candy necklace.

Our Soldiers will be coming through these doors at any moment!

Our Daddy is home!

After a couple hours of waiting the ceremony began. We got to stand right by the door the soldiers came in. At this point in time the girls were covering their ears because of the noise and still not sure what was going on. I tried to spot TLOML but still could not see him. The commander dismissed the troops and after a while we found him. Our daddy was home, and our family was all together for the first time.

I can not begin to describe how good it feels to once again be able to be in the arms of my husband. A huge emptiness has been filled and I am complete.

DTE also could not get enough of being in Daddy's arms. She kept telling him about all the things he missed. She wanted his undivided attention all night. She is so in love with her Daddy and thrilled to have him back.

DTY was not as hands-on. She is the type to stand back and watch a situation. Once she has decided she is comfortable with what is going on she will jump in, but after a hug or two she just watched her daddy from a comfortable distance. She has decided now that she is okay with him being home and adores spending time with her favorite guy in the world.

TLOML met his son for the first time that night. TB was hungry and when daddy took him and cradled him, he began to cry. Now (as long as he has a full belly) he loves to play with, talk to, and be held by dad. I am so excited for TLOML to have a son!

We have been busy as can be with Daddy being home. We are having a blast! We love having our family complete again.
